Potatoes have been cultivated on Cape Bjäre since the potato’s arrival in Sweden in the 18th century. In the early 1900, an innovative young farmer’s son discovered the fantastic taste of the new potato and sold this early crop to the summer guests of the time, staying at a nearby hotel. The “virgin potato” was born and became an overnight success. To this day, every year Swedes eagerly anticipate and celebrate its first harvest.
For generations, the fine art of cultivating the land has been passed from father to son. This tradition continues, with the distinct difference that most of today’s farmers hold a university degree in agriculture.
The potatoes that Karlsson’s Gold is made of are cropped, harvested and washed by the farmers of Cape Bjäre. This is to ensure that the very finest potatoes are used for the blend of Karlsson’s Gold.
