VIRGIN POTATOES

Karlsson’s Gold is made from virgin potatoes from Cape Bjäre in the south of Sweden. Nothing else is added or infused into the flavorful vodka.

The potatoes are only harvested during four months of the year – form June to September and they are picked and washed in Cape Bjäre before being distilled once. The potatoes are very small, and as the skin has not been fully developed, one can easily scratch it off with a finger tip. The potatoes are a delicacy in Scandinavia and the first harvest of virgin potatoes typically sell for over $100/lbs in the spring. The potatoes even have their own day when they are celebrated.

We all know that wine taste differently from year to year. This is because weather conditions effect the grapes. Well, it’s the same with potatoes. So to bring a continuous taste to Karlsson’s Gold Vodka, we use a blend of seven varieties of virgin potatoes. Karlsson’s Gold vodka is made from Solist, Princess, Gammel Svensk Röd, Hamlet, St. Thora, Marine and Celine virgin potatoes.

The unique character of Karlsson’s Gold is a result of the quality and quantity of the ingredient it is made from. Approximately 17 lbs (8 kilos) of virgin potatoes are needed to make one bottle of Karlsson’s Gold. To preserve as much as possible of the inherent flavor Karlsson’s Gold is distilled only once in an unfiltered process.

But since there is nothing more personal than taste, we think you should try it for yourself.
